All Souls Day all month long

November 3, 2021 // Around the Medical Center, Spirituality in the Workplace

All Souls Day, November 2, is a day to commemorate and pray for the faithful departed. Given the magnitude of loss we’ve endured since the pandemic began, one day doesn’t seem enough, so our chaplains will be praying for those left behind throughout the month. If you’ve lost a loved one and wish to be lifted up in prayer for peace and hope to carry on, please write the name of the individual(s) for whom you mourn in the Intercessory Book of Prayers located in Christ the Healer Chapel, or email them to josie.longoria@samc.com.

The heart of Saint Agnes is YOU

November 3, 2021 // Around the Medical Center, Department Highlights

If not for you, our promise to care for Valley residents with compassion and quality would be merely words. You bring our mission to life every day, with every patient and family you touch, and for that we are both grateful and extremely proud. As a way of publicly recognizing your tireless dedication, courage, strength and spirit, we will be airing this 30-second spot on all local TV networks, and on cable and streaming television. You are a blessing to Saint Agnes, to our patients and to our community … “and we couldn’t be prouder.”

CDC recommends Pfizer vaccine for children ages 5-11

November 3, 2021 // Coronavirus

On November 2, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommended use of the Comirnaty (Pfizer-BioNTech) COVID-19 vaccine for persons 5-11 years of age. The announcement followed the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP)’s vote to recommend it. Last week, the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) updated emergency use authorization of the vaccine to include the expanded age group. Trinity Health is confident in the safety and efficacy of COVID-19 vaccines with FDA approval. We strongly encourage everyone ages 5 and up to be vaccinated. Our colleagues, families, friends, neighbors and acquaintances look to us for guidance and are influenced by our words and examples we set. Please encourage everyone to get educated about the vaccine’s safety and efficacy.

Red Ribbon Week

October 27, 2021 // Saint Agnes in the Community

National Red Ribbon Week (October 23-31), is the nation’s largest and longest-running drug use prevention campaign and provides communities, like ours, with the education, treatments and outreach necessary to help young people learn and respond to the dangers of substance abuse. As health care colleagues and providers, we can better care for our patients and loved ones by engaging in more frequent conversations about substance abuse and helping them find the resources they need to quit.
