Saint Agnes graduates first Family Medicine class

Saint Agnes Graduate Medical Education (GME) is thrilled to celebrate the inaugural graduating class of Family Medicine residents. After three years of study and hands-on patient care experience, these residents have completed their education and are ready to begin their professional medical careers. We are also excited to share that two of our graduates, Alvin Vong, MD, and Holupathirage Caldera, MD, will be staying on with us as Saint Agnes Care providers.

GME welcomes 41 new residents

Today, Saint Agnes welcomed 41 new residents across four programs. Internal Medicine welcomed its fifth class of residents, Family Medicine welcomed its fourth and the Emergency Medicine and Transitional Year programs welcomed their second classes. We are so excited to see the work of these new doctors and the differences they will make for our patients. As you see them in the halls, please be sure to extend a warm Saint Agnes welcome.

After three years of study and hands-on patient care experience, these residents have completed their education and are ready to begin their professional medical careers. Physician and nurse residents learn together

Today, June 15, Emergency Medicine physician residents and nurse residents from Cohort 20 gathered together at the Learning Center on Warner to practice joint patient simulations for the first time. Both physician and nurse residents float to different departments as part of their educational programs, which means they are often working with care teams they are unfamiliar with. By practicing these scenarios, residents were able to gain confidence in communicating with new care teams in critical situations.

GME Grand Rounds, June 8

Fresno County Sheriff Margaret Mims will be the guest speaker for GME Grand Rounds, June 8, 12-1 p.m., in the Nickerson Auditorium. Sheriff Mims will present about the intersection of medicine and law, jail medicine, the coroner’s office and street drugs. Since seating is limited, the presentation can also be attended virtually via Teams.

GME Grand Rounds, May 4

April 27th, 2022 // Graduate Medical Education

You’re invited to attend a virtual GME Grand Rounds lecture on May 4, 12-1:30 p.m. Guest Speaker Alireza Soleimani Far, MD, will present on the importance of Hospice and Palliative Care and how to better connect patients with these vital services. The presentation is open to everyone. CME credit is not available for this course. The link to the presentation meeting will be sent out next week.

The Graduate Medical Education (GME) program is thrilled to share some exciting announcements. Congratulations to Chief Resident, Manpreet Singh, MD, on his acceptance to the Nephrology Fellowship at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center. In addition, we want to recognize the 2022-2023 Internal and Family Medicine Chief Residents: Drs. Peter Chao, Ariel Leung, Katarina Soewono, and Jovanne Tamparon.
